Carpet beetle
Carpet beetles are infamous for infesting carpets and laying eggs, eating the carpet fabric and permanently damaging it. There are three types of carpet beetles that you can find. They are:
- The black carpet beetle - The black carpet beetles are dark brown or black, in colour. They are bullet-shaped beetles with brown legs and antennae. They feed on fabrics and stored food grains.
- The varied carpet beetle - These beetles have a splotchy appearance. They have spots of white, brown, and yellow color. They eat dead insects, fabrics and other fibrous material.
- The common carpet beetle - Also known as buffalo carpet beetles, they are covered in black and white patterns. They have bright red and orange scales and eat materials made from animal bi-products.
Clothes moth
Clothes moth are pests that feed on fabrics and other similar materials. They are known to feed on animal fibers, such as wool, feathers, fur, silk, felt and leather. There are 4 major types of clothes moths you will find. They include, the brown hopuse moth, common clothes moth, case-bearing clothes moth and oak processionary moth.
